BRIGHTON boy Russell Martin could be back in a central role when Norwich City visit the Amex.
The Scotland international – and Varndean School old boy – is expected to revert to centre-back when second-placed Albion take on the Canaries on Saturday.
Boss Alex Neil wants his side to improve defensively after their League Cup defeat at ten-man Leeds United.
He will make wholesale changes, with Martin among the leading players returning to the side after a midweek rest.
Martin had to switch to right-back at short notice when Norwich lost 1-0 to Preston at Carrow Road last Saturday.
Right-back Ivo Pinto pulled out shortly before that game with a groin problem, leading to a defensive reshuffle, but rested during the week and is likely to return.
The Canaries team is likely to be very similar to that sunk by Alex Baptiste’s header from a free-kick for North End as Norwich’s marking let them down.
Neil said: “At the moment we are making errors at crucial times in games.
“Sometimes you get away with a couple of them.
“At the minute we are getting punished for them.
“It’s about players being concentrated on doing the right things at crucial moments of the game.”
