A MAN with a knife tried to rob a Tesco Express.
He held the weapon to the neck of a member of staff before fleeing empty handed, police said.
The alarm went off during the attempt at the store in Broadwater Street West at about 10.53pm on Wednesday (October 26).
A 24-year-old man, of no fixed address, was arrested nearby on suspicion of robbery.
He remained in police custody as of Thursday afternoon.
