A POPULAR charity is asking people to commit 90 minutes of their lives to help it continue its award-winning work.

Albion in the Community (AITC) has launched its 90 minutes for AITC campaign to coincide with #GivingTuesday, the national charity awareness day that traditionally follows the Black Friday sales, and it is now ongoing.

It also runs a range of programmes in other areas, including health, social inclusion, football participation and skills and training – working with more than 36,000 people in the last 12 months alone.

As a charity AITC relies partly on fundraising and volunteers and is looking for people to support its work throughout Sussex by donating their time or money.

AITC is the largest provider of disability football opportunities in the area, running more than 35 regular sessions throughout Sussex.

The charity is asking people to donate the equivalent to 90 minutes of their wages or commit to 90 minutes volunteering at one of its events.

Volunteers could do anything from helping pack bags at a local supermarket to cheering on runners at the Brighton Marathon.

AITC also has a range of fundraising events that people can take part in – including a Seagulls Santa Dash, the Warrior Run and a bike ride to Amsterdam.

Emma Cook, AITC’s fundraising manager, said: "This is all about helping charities and we hope as many people as possible see it as a good opportunity to support the work we do.

"By offering us 90 minutes of your time – the equivalent to one football match – you would be helping us raise money to fund some the disability football sessions we regularly run throughout the county.

"And if you can’t spare the time to volunteer with us, you can still help by donating 90 minutes of your wages.

"It costs us around £5,000 a year to run one of our weekly football sessions for junior players with a disability, so every penny really helps.

"Giving us 90 minutes of your time could be game changing for people across Sussex."
