A CHARITY set up in memory of an inspiring teenager who died from cancer is today launching a special online calendar and art auction in her memory.

Charlotte’s Battle Against Glioblastoma (BAG) aims to raise funds for the research into, and awareness of, the aggressive tumour glioblastoma.

Charlotte Eades from Brighton was diagnosed with the tumour when she was 16 and died in February at the age of 19.

Every day the online calendar will provide a fact either about Charlotte or about glioblastoma.

Charlotte inspired thousands with her online videos about her battle with cancer and her family have vowed to keep the videos going in her name.

The charity is today also launching an online auction featuring a range of work donated by professional artists and photographers.

They range from a limited edition print of the original costume design for Grizabella from Cats by top stage designer John Napier, to watercolours, batiks, screenprints and photographs.

Charlotte’s mother Alex, 55, said: “We are immensely grateful for the support these artists have given us, the collection of work is superb and there really is something for everyone, and for every budget.

“We hope it will raise lots of money for the charity, and every single penny will go into research into glioblastoma.

"Christmas is a particularly difficult time of year for anyone who has lost a loved one, and it will be very hard for us as this is our first Christmas without Charlotte.

“However by focussing on Charlotte’s BAG we know that we will make a difference, and ultimately hope that no other family will be destroyed by glioblastoma.”

Glioblastoma belongs to a group of brain tumours known as gliomas.

It is the most common primary brain tumour in adults but also the most aggressive form, meaning they are fast growing and likely to spread.

The charity is working with consultant neuro-oncologist Stergios Zacharoulis, who treated Charlotte during her illness, and his team.

The auction will be open online from today until December 14, and the highest bidder for each work will be informed on December 15.
