AN 18-YEAR old is to appear in court charged with drug dealing at schools.

Samuel Shannon, of Highbank, Brighton, is due to appear on bail at Brighton Magistrates Court on December 22, charged with four offences of possessing Class A drugs with intent to supply, two offences of possessing cannabis with intent to supply, and with money laundering.

Shannon was arrested at Brighton, Hove and Sussex Sixth Form College (BHASVIC) in Dyke Road, Hove, in March this year, where he was then a student in his final year, following an investigation by detectives from the Brighton Safeguarding Investigations Unit into allegations that drugs were being sold to schoolchildren in the city.

Detectives have worked closely with BHASVIC during the investigation.

The principal of the college, William Baldwin, said: "The college has a zero tolerance to any illegal activity. We actively follow robust policies and procedures to ensure the safeguarding of all young people.”
