A MAN has been arrested after a suspected shoplifter pulled out a handgun and threatened supermarket staff to make his getaway.
Police were called to the Sainsbury’s Local in South Coast Road, Peacehaven, at 8.40pm on Sunday.
Officers launched a hunt for the man after he fled in the direction of Dorothy Avenue.
No one was hurt.

He was wearing a white top, black jacket, black scarf and blue jeans with green and brown trainers with white soles. He was carrying a white plastic bag.
Sussex Police issued a CCTV image of a man they wanted to speak to.
Last night officers arrested a 49-year-old man on suspicion of robbery with a firearm.
He is currently in police custody while enquiries continue.
