A HOST of Brighton celebrities have launched a Band Aid-style Christmas single to raise money for charity.

Big Brother winner Pete Bennett, Gogglebox's Stephen Webb and Chris Steed and former Albion star Guy Butters are among the well-know faces on the Jingle Bell Brighton Rocks record.

All proceeds from the sale of the single will be donated to Time To Talk Befriending, the Brighton and Hove charity founded by Emily Kenward to combat loneliness and social isolation.

Among the others who helped form the group, Brighton Belles, include the Michael family from Gogglebox, Disco Pete and Ann Tunstall, who became a YouTube sensation after being videoed dancing to a street busker’s version of Let’s Twist Again earlier this year.

The single is available to buy online for 99p and can be downloaded from a number of music streaming channels including iTunes and Spotify.

Donations can also be made on the Just Giving page.

Money raised will go towards enabling Time To Talk Befriending help the 7,000 plus elderly people in the city who live on their own and don’t have any family or friends to visit them.

The charity trains volunteers, matching them with like-minded companions.

Charity founder, Emily Kenward, said: “We meet amazing older people every day who have a rich life history to share and we witness first hand how befriending can literally transform lives.”

The fundraising project has been organised by DJ Guy Lloyd, from Juice FM and Sophie Tanner.

She said “It’s heart breaking to think how many old people are hidden behind closed doors, with mobility issues meaning they have less opportunity to meet new people.

"We want this song to remind people that even the smallest gesture of human contact can lift a lonely person’s spirit.”

The song was recorded in in Park Studios, Freehold Terrace, Brighton and was produced by MC Cashback and Eds John.
