A MAN arrested over a stabbing in a residential street has been released without charge.

Police were called to Langdale Road, Hove at around 1.30am on Saturday and found a 21-year-old Hove man slumped on the pavement with a knife wound in his stomach.

They treated his injury while waiting for paramedics and he was rushed to hospital.

A 23-year-old man from Hove, who knows the victim, was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent but has since been released without charge, police said yesterday.

The victim was later discharged from hospital.

Neighbours spoke of their shock as their quiet street became a crime scene.

Eye witnesses said the altercation appeared to start in the council-run Kariba Lodge hostel and then continued further up the road outside homes.

Neighbours discovered a pool of blood in the street the next day. Councillor Tom Bewick, who represents the Westbourne area including Langdale Road, said he would raise concerns about the hostel with Brighton and Hove City Council.

Witnesses should call police on 101 quoting 107 of 28/01.
