LOVE Your Bike Week will be celebrated over next week’s half term.

Community groups Brighton Bike Hub and Remade in Brighton are hosting free cycling themed activities starting from tomorrow at FIELD at Preston Barracks in Lewes Road.

The hub, which provides DIY community cycle workshops, wants to help young cyclists prepare their bikes for spring and summer by encouraging them to visit and learn how to look after their bikes and also to improve their cycling skills by tackling a purpose-built assault course.

Author Catherine Bruzzone will also be on site for a day with her publication My Book of Bike Activities to encourage children to get creative and have fun while also learning about bikes.

Remade in Brighton will be holding workshops to demonstrate ideas for using upcycled materials for cyclist safety wear – from old hi-vis materials to inner tubes – before combining the upcycled items with new technology to ensure riders stay safe and have efficient lighting.

Duncan Blinkhorn, who runs the volunteer-led Bike Hub, said: “There is always lots happening at FIELD as it provides a base for local organisations, businesses and people to work together and exchange ideas.

“We are delighted to be hosting these free bicycle events again so that children and their families can visit FIELD and learn more about bicycles and cycling.”
