CHRIS Eubank’s estranged son is to play his father in a film about his clash with Michael Watson in 1991.

It comes after the former world champion, whose adopted hometown is the city of Brighton, healed a 27-year rift with Nathanael Wilson during which the pair barely spoke.

Nathanael, nicknamed Banks, is also a boxer who was brought up in London.

His mother is Cynthia Wilson, whom Eubank dated for six months.

The now 50-year-old had nothing to do with Nathanael but after a paternity test he agreed an out-of-court settlement of around £30,000 to cover maintenance.

It is understood Eubank reached out to Nathanael last year after the latter became a father for the first time.

Now Nathanael will play his father in a film about the fight that left Michael Watson with brain damage.

Speaking to The Mirror, he said: “My dad gives me advice about boxing, that’s about the extent of the relationship we have. And it is quite a new relationship.

“He knows about the film and he has given his blessing for me to play the part.”

The film, titled Michael – The Michael Watson Story, will be directed by Sean Cronin.

He said: “It’s so great to have Nathanael on board. He has got his dad’s posh accent down to a tee as well. It’s going to be great.”

It is not known who will play Watson but Nick Moran, from Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels, will star as promoter Barry Hearn while Bruce Payne will play Frank Warren.

Nathanael turned professional in 2016. He has won three fights and drawn one.

He said: “I didn’t step into a gym until I was 20. That was my outlook. I never watched it but I could never get away from it.”
