Niki Maenpaa saved a penalty on his return to action as Albion under-23s enjoyed a highly eventful 4-2 win over Middlesbrough at the Amex tonight.

As well as six goals, three spot kicks were missed or saved and three players were sent off.

Maenpaa dived to his right to make a fabulous stop from Joe Wheatley in the second half.

Albion celebrate one of their goals

Albion were 3-0 up at the time through Henrik Bjordal, James Tilley and a brilliant Aaron Connolly overhead kick.

Tilley scored again in the second period having hit the bar with a fourth-minute spot kick.

That goal came between strikes by Wheatley and Alexander Pattison for Boro.

Connolly then failed from the spot, seeing his effort saved by Aynsley Pears.

Tyler Hornby-Forbes was sent off conceding the penalty which Maenpaa saved.

Marcus Tavernier and Callum Johnson were both dismissed for the visitors in the final minutes.
