Teenager Fikayo Tomori is poised to make his full league debut for Albion at Leeds on Saturday.

The 19-year-old on loan from Chelsea is on standby to deputise at right-back for skipper Bruno at Elland Road after the Spaniard limped out of Friday’s 3-0 home win against Derby with a groin injury.

The Seagulls are down to the bare bones defensively, with Shane Duffy (ankle), Connor Goldson (heart condition), Gaetan Bong (knee) and Seb Pocognoli (groin) all sidelined.

New central defender Vegard Forren is not ready after joining Albion out-of-season from the Norwegian League.

Pocognoli is closest to a comeback but the trip to Yorkshire is likely to come too soon for the left-back on loan from West Brom.

That would mean Liam Rosenior continuing at left-back, rather than switching to right-back, and Tomori making his first Championship start after a series of substitute appearances, with Lewis Dunk and Uwe Huenemeier in the middle. Tomori’s only previous start came in a debut defeat at Lincoln City in the FA Cup.

Manager Chris Hughton told The Argus: “Unfortunately for us, the problems that we do have are all in defensive areas.

“We’ll see how Bruno is. Vegard at this moment wouldn’t be up to speed, so that back four would be our four defenders with Sam Adekugbe at left-back.

“Apart from Sam, we’re dropping into the under-23s. Seb is close. I think we’re more confident of Blackburn after the international break, but certainly we’re not ruling him out of Leeds.”
