WARNINGS have been issued to parents who use machines to dispense pre-warmed baby formula.

Tommy Tippee issued an alert after parents reported problems with the “Perfect Prep” machines - which are designed to dispense pre-mixed baby milk at the perfect drinking temperature.

Portslade mum Amber Perrin said she had found mould in the pipes of the machine she used for baby Skyler’s feeds

She said on facebook: “Just saw a post about the tommee tippee prep machine having mould in the tubes so I thought I would check mine and I can see mould all in the tubes, which is causing children to get broncitous and colds and cough.

“Skyler at 5 weeks was so close to going into intensive care with bronchitis and this probably helped with that, mines in the bin already. Let people with them know.”

NHS guidance also states that the machines may not mix baby milk in the sterile conditions the Department of Health would recommend.

Tommy Tippe issued a warnign to parents saying:”We’ve received comments from parents referring to the internal pipes of their Perfect Prep Machine not being clean. We’re concerned by the findings mentioned in the post and are investigating.

“To help us do this, we’d like parents who’ve found similar build-up to contact us as soon as possible, so we can arrange to have your machine and filter returned to us via Freepost for examination.

"Until we’ve investigated, it’s hard to determine the cause, but we’d advise anyone with concerns to contact us via our Careline on 0500 97 98 99.
