UNIVERSITY students are to sleep rough for a night to raise money for the homeless.

A group of 12 from the University of of Brighton will join 100 volunteers to take part in the YMCA Downslink Group Sleep Easy challenge on Friday.

The aim is to help more vulnerable young people to move into safe accommodation.

The social policy students are from the university’s School of Applied Social Science.

Principal lecturer Kepa Artaraz said: “The theme of the challenge is sleep rough so that others don’t have to.

“It is a great cause and my students are passionate about taking part and helping the homeless.”

The students will spend the night at the back of the YMCA building in Church Road, Hove.

The charity supports more than 10,000 children, young people and families across Sussex and Surrey.
