Part of Brighton seafront has been closed suddenly until further notice to cyclists and pedestrians.
The shared cycle and pedestrian lane at the bottom of West Street has been sealed off and as a result people will have to use alternative crossings.
It's in the area where work is taking place to redevelop the historic Shelter Hall, with the local authority blaming the closure on "unforeseen ground conditions”.
There was traffic chaos in April 2014 on the A259 Kingsway after part of the carriageway collapsed underneath, before the road fully reopened in January 2015.
A spokesman for Brighton and Hove City Council said: "Unfortunately we've had to close the temporary shared cycle and pedestrian path on the seafront at the bottom of West Street.
“We're asking pedestrians and cyclists to use the nearby pedestrian crossings. Cyclists will need to dismount.
“We hope to confirm the duration of this closure soon.
"We're carrying out essential works to reinforce the seafront arches at this point.
“The path behind the current Shelter Hall works is closed due to unforeseen ground conditions."
