A SERIOUS accident closed the A259 in both directions following a four vehicle crash.
Emergency services were called to reports of a four vehicle accident on the A259 Marine Drive near Roedean at around 6.30am.
Firefighters from Roedean and from Preston Circus made the vehicles safe and helped with first aid.
Four ambulances were required to take four patients to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton.
A South East Coast Ambulance Service spokeswoman said all patients were conscious.
She added: "One of the drivers, a man in his 40’s suffered arm, leg and pelvic injuries and a woman in her 30’s suffering potential back injuries.
"Another man in his 20’s sustained a foot injury and a woman passenger a head injury."
Buses were divered as a result.
Due to an RTC near Roedean School, all #BH12 services are currently diverting via Woodingdean and Falmer Road. Apologies.
