A police officer has been injured after being pelted with wood, vases, house bricks and a knife when responding to reports of a domestic assault.
Sussex Police were called to Bilsham Road in Yapton near Bognor at 3.26pm on Sunday.
Officers called for assistance when they were confronted by a man who threw a number of items at them, including wood, vases and house bricks.
One officer suffered a minor injury to her hand when she was hit by a large knife.
The incident continued for more than half-an-hour and resulted in a number of road closures in the area while the situation was resolved.
Benjamin Golby, 33, a bricklayer of Bilsham Road, Yapton, was charged with assault by beating, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray and will appear at Crawley Magistrates' Court today.
