Julia Christmas is one of the three women who organised the protest against Donald Trump’s travel ban in January. She is a student at the University of Brighton studying English literature.

What is your favourite place in Sussex?

My favourite place in Sussex is probably my mum’s house in Hurstpierpoint, where I can run away from everything, relax, see my dog and take all my washing with me. Thanks, mum!

What do you love most about Sussex?

Brighton. It makes you feel at home and most of us are looking out for each other. I feel pretty safe in this city and Sussex, and that’s quite a lovely feeling.

What advice do you have for your 12-year-old self?

The side fringe that resembles a comb over is never a good look. Oh, and boys will be here forever – stop flirting with them on MSN and focus on school.

What is your most valued possession?

A Beatrix Potter Mrs Tiggywinkle ornament my late grandmother and I found at a car boot sale.

What is your biggest regret?

Not saving up money when I had a full-time job.

What is your biggest fear?

Right now, probably a Tory Government for another five years.

What is your proudest achievement?

Organising the Brighton protest against UK complicity with Trump’s muslim ban. Myself and two others organised the whole thing in 24 hours and over 3,000 people turned up to a non-violent protest. It

was incredible to see so many people united in caring about something so important.

Which five people (living or dead) would you invite to your fantasy dinner party?

Louis Theroux – he’d have incredible stories to share.

Beyoncé – how could you not want Beyoncé at your dinner party? She’s one of the most powerful women in the world and I just look at her in awe and wonder.

Paul Heaton, (the front man from The Beautiful South and The Housemartins). The Beautiful South are my favourite band of all time.

Richard Ayoade, I think he’s so funny and quick witted and Submarine was a masterpiece of a film that he directed.

And finally Harry Styles, so I can try to cook my way into convincing him to become my future husband. It’s worth a try!
