TWO British doctors who set sail from Western Australia to row across the Indian Ocean have set a new world record for their crossing time.
Ted Welman and Jack Faulkner rowed out of Geraldton Harbour on Thursday, March 16 despite rats eating some of their supplies beforehand.
Dr Welman, 26, from Petworth, and Dr Faulkner, 26 from Brighton, spent 14 months preparing for the epic journey.
They rowed a total of around 3,700 miles across the ocean, arriving at their destination of Mauritius on Saturday, May 13.
They are raising money for Médecins Sans Frontièrs (Doctors Without Borders) and are hoping to have raised a total of £100,000 once all donations have been calculated.
The two doctors beat the previous record of 85 days, completing the challenge in just 56 days, 23 hours and 45 minutes.
