A MAN has been arrested following a murder which took place less than an hour after police left the victim's home.

The murder at Ingleside Crescent, Lancing, happened after Sussex Police officers left the address, where they had been sent following reports of a disturbance.

Police were first called to the address at 8.15pm on Monday night following reports of a disturbance.

They left and returned an hour later, to carry out a welfare check and discovered the 52-year-old resident had suffered a serious head injury.

He was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton but died of his injuries in hospital on Tuesday morning.

A 44-year-old man from Shoreham was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder at 6am on Tuesday and later on suspicion of murder.

He is currently in police custody.
