FIREFIGHTERS were called to a blaze in an office block this afternoon.

Six fire engines were sent to tackle the fire in Queen’s Road, Brighton, just after 4pm.

Flames broke out on the fifth floor of the seven storey building, a spokeswoman for East Sussex Fire and Rescue said.

The extent of the damage and the cause of the fire have not yet been established.

But the spokeswoman said there were no injuries and no-one needed to be rescued, adding: "The tower block was commercial and not residential".

The number of firefighter has now been scaled back. Those remaining are in the process of damping down the scene and making the area safe.
