SCHOOLCHILDREN were put through their paces when they became lifeguards for the day.
Hove Park School pupils headed to Brighton beach where they learned about what it takes to be a lifeguard.
Twenty eight youngsters met the lifesavers who taught them rescue techniques before practising saving casualties and performing rescues from boards.
Instructors also taught the children about the dangers of the sea, how currents and tides work and how to be safe.
The weather was perfect and condition in the sea could not have been better. Hove Park PE teacher Tom Lowrie said: “The students learnt a huge amount over the day and the instructors made it a very enjoyable experience for everyone.
“Congratulations to all who took part and a massive thank you to Surf Life Saving Club and the Brighton Lifeguards.”
