A WOMAN is due to stand trial accused of stealing a bank card and going on a spending spree.

Nehla Maybury denied stealing a NatWest bank card belonging to Wesley Kenneally in Montgomery Street, Hove, in March, before taking hundreds of pounds from his account and using it to buy shopping.

She is accused of withdrawing £600 – half of which is alleged to have been taken from a Nationwide cash machine in London Road, Brighton, on March 31.

The rest was allegedly withdrawn at Marks and Spencer in Western Road the next day before the card was used to spend hundreds of pounds in six shops.

Maybury, of Whitelot Close, Southwick, is charged with buying around £130 of items from Boots, £56 from TK Maxx, and making a £9.95 contactless payment in ITSU. She is accused of using the card to get £90 cash back – £30 a time when she bought a few items in Marks and Spencer, Waitrose and Sainsbury’s.

The 48-year-old appeared in court on Thursday to answer the ten charges – one of theft and nine of fraud by false representation.

She was released on conditional bail until next month when she will stand trial at Brighton Magistrates’ Court.
