THOUSANDS descended on Brighton beach yesterday for one of the hottest August bank holiday Mondays in years.
The mercury tipped 26C along the coast while inland it was around 29C.
Sunseekers were not put off by Sunday’s toxic mist scare as they attempted to make the most of the vitamin B while it lasts.
The outlook for the rest of the week is good if not as hot as the weekend.
Today is expected to be sunny with highs of 24C before the temperature drops to the high teens on Wednesday.
There will be plenty of sun on Thursday and Friday with highs of 20C before another sunny weekend with highs of 19C.
Among those hoping for good weather this weekend are the organisers of the Brighton Speed Trials which returns to the city on Saturday and Sunday.
