THESE are some of the Sussex shortlisted entries in the UK-wide photography competition Ultimate Sea View.
There were more than 1,300 entries for the competition organised by the Shipwrecked Mariners’ Society.
While none of the final winning entries came from Sussex, the contributions from across the county were stunning, as we can see here.
The main image, right, shows Selsey at sunrise and was taken by John Powell.
In contrast, the image to the right is Newhaven in the darkness. This was taken by William Pollard.
Brighton’s West Pier is always good for a dramatic shot. The one below was taken John White.
Rather more unusual is the picture far right called Old Sailor by Iain Garrett.
It shows the sailor in his wheelchair on a misty Bognor beach.
The weather is more extreme in the picture below that – a very stormy day in Newhaven was captured by David Lyon.
The other shots, Selsey, Worthing and Cuckmere Haven, show calmer times.
