FIREFIGHTERS are responding to a flat fire in Whitehawk.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service have been called to a block of flats on Albourne Close at 12.31pm.
A fire service spokeswoman said: "We received a report of smoke coming from the block of flats on Albourne Close at 12.31.
"Six fire engines were sent to the scene along with officers and an aerial ladder platform.
"The building consists of nine floors. The fire was on the 8th floor.
"Crews are now damping down and 'turning over' to ensure the fire is out.
"Everyone is accounted for."
As of 13.20 crews remained at the scene.
Brighton and Hove Bus services have been diverted.
