SUSSEX’S Bake Off contest ant said she was “overwhelmed” by the support she has received since being crowned star baker for the first time on Tuesday night.
Julia Chernogorova, 21, of Crawley, was awarded the title at the end of bread week in the third episode of the Channel 4 competition.
She snatched the crown from Steven Carter-Bailey who has claimed the title ever since the series began last month.
While judge Paul Hollywood was impressed with some of Steven’s flavours this week, branding them “ridiculous”, he struggled overall.
Julie, a self-confessed fan of baking bread, won Paul and fellow judge Prue Leith over with her signature teacakes, cob loaf in the technical challenge and countryside scene showstopper which raised a few smiles because of her snail-shaped bread.
