A HUSBAND and wife killed in a head-on car crash have been named.

David Evans, 55, and wife Linda, 48, of Pook Reed Lane, Heathfield, died when their Ford Ranger collided with a Mini Countryman on the A267 in Cross In Hand last Saturday night.

They were pronounced dead at the scene.

The collision happened at about 11.30pm.

The Mini driver, an 18-year-old man from Heathfield, and his passenger, an 18-year-old woman from Newick, both sustained serious injuries and are still receiving treatment at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.

Their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Mr and Mrs Evans’s deaths were two of five fatalities across Sussex last weekend.

Just three and a half hours before they were killed, two pedestrians died in Harveys Lane, Ringmer.

They were named on Thursday as James Mordon, of Tunbridge Wells, and Matthew Lind, from Wimbledon.

Both men were aged 31.

On Friday, an 85-year-old man died in a crash in Horsham.
