WEST Sussex Fire and Rescue Service has teamed up with Greater Brighton Metropolitan College to launch a brand new fire cadets programme.
It is a 38-week programme and 16 students from the MET’s Uniformed Services course will learn all about the fire service.
This ranges from the roles and responsibilities of individuals within WSFRS to practising hose drills, working at height, and using the special protective clothing and equipment firefighters rely on every day.
The cadets will also undertake HeartStart first aid training which equips individuals with the invaluable skills to deal with cardiac arrest, blood loss and choking. Previous programmes have been run solely by the fire service.
