A FISHERMAN was rescued from a commercial trawler this morning.
Newhaven lifeboat and her volunteer crew were launched at 8:50am to reports of an unconscious fisherman on a commercial trawler, which was approximately 3.5 miles south east of Newhaven.
The lifeboat was quickly alongside the trawler by 9am.
Two first aid trained crew members were transferred across to assess the man who was conscious at this time.
Once he was stabilised he was transferred to Newhaven lifeboat.
He was then taken to the lifeboat station where he was handed over to a waiting ambulance crew and transferred to hospital.
As a precaution, a Coastguard helicopter was also tasked but was not needed on this occasion.
