A NOXIOUS smell that left people with stinging eyes and nausea is being linked to farmland.
Residents in Seaford were warned to stay in and keep doors and windows shut when reports started coming in on Friday evening.
Council and emergency services launched an investigation.
A spokesman for Lewes District Council said: “The northerly wind direction on Friday suggested the odour may have emanated from farmland bordering the Seaford area.
“The odour was not apparent on Saturday and the investigation into the source has been scaled back.”
