THE sound of children’s singing and laughter can now be heard following the opening of a nursery.
The Montessori nursery, which is a system of education that seeks to develop natural interests and activities rather than use formal teaching methods, has set up at The Hub at St Michael and All Angels Church in Willingdon Road, Eastbourne.
Ward councillors paid for secure fencing to enclose the garden.
The Montessori now runs sessions daily and is growing in popularity with 24 children already on the roll, and a few more places are available.
Father David Weaver, who is the priest at St Michael and All Angels Church, said: “We were delighted that the councillors agreed to fund the new fence as it’s enabled us to have a nursery on the site.
“It’s lovely to see and hear the children enjoying their environment and they can really get involved with nature as there are birds, squirrels and other creatures roaming around The Hub’s garden.”
