WE ALL know the housing market is expensive in Brighton and Hove.

With the recent figures from the Office for National Statistics showing that the average house price weighs in at £350,000 - rising 627 per cent in the last generation - Brighton and Hove is now the second most expensive city in the UK, falling just behind the capital.

But it begs the question: just what can you get at the top end of the scale?

Those in search of a pool may be slightly disappointed, as these are few and far between - featuring in just one of the properties listed.

Instead, the views are coming in spades with many overlooking the lush emerald hills of the South Downs, or the hustle and bustle of Brighton’s beautiful beach.

Plush, bespoke interiors, top-of-the-range kitchens and personal cinema rooms seem favourable among the Brighton elite, with each property oozing with luxury.

And of course there are the typical architectural features of the Regency era, with listed properties among the most valuable.

There are even private woodlands for nature lovers, Tudor-style beams for those who love antiquities and bedrooms fit with free-standing bathtubs - for those who really can not be bothered to walk to their bathroom in the morning, we can only assume.

Joking aside, a spectrum of differing tastes and preferences are covered, with properties at the very top end of the property market a mixture of traditional and contemporary stylings.

With an average five bedrooms each, buyers may be looking for something a little larger at £2.5million, however considering the properties are all in prime locations in the city with the highest number of annual sunshine hours in the country, it’s difficult to argue.

So if you have a spare million or three in the bank (or just wish you did), feast your eyes on these beauties situated across Brighton and Hove - ranging from £1,600,000 to the very top at £2,940,000.

Just try not to think about how much they cost last time they were on the market.
