Rob Brydon
Brighton Dome, tonight, 8pm
Brydon’s new stand-up show, that has the deadpan title I Am Standing Up, is his first since his West End run of 2009. He’s been busy in the interim, not least with The Trip, the comedy he writes and stars in alongside Steve Coogan. You may also have seen Brydon on Gavin And Stacey, Would I Lie To You? and QI. Earlier this year he took a role The Painkiller on the West End alongside Sir Kenneth Branagh. Stand-up is Brydon’s first love, though, and his Brighton performance will showcase his irreverent view of the world.
Joe Bonamassa
Brighton Centre, tonight, 7pm
The blues-rock guitarist is back in Brighton for a night of rollicking riffs. Bonamassa scored a number three album with his latest record Blues Of Desperation, which was followed swiftly by a live album of his performance at Carnegie Hall. Blues Of Desperation is the 15th album of his long career, which started in 1980. The guitarist is also notable for the stars he has played alongside on stage and in the studio, including Eric Clapton, Stephen Stills, Foreigner and Blondie Chaplin.
Menopause The Musical
Devonshire Park Theatre, Eastbourne, today, 4.30pm and 7.30pm
Starring Cheryl Fergison (EastEnders), Maureen Nolan (The Nolans), Rebecca Wheatley (Casualty) and Hilary O’Neil (ITV’s Copy Cats), Menopause The Musical has become a cult hit. The show is packed full of one-liners about night sweats, hot flushes and memory loss and is backed by an instantly recognisable soundtrack of 60s, 70s and 80s pop songs. It is an all-singing, all-dancing comedy set in a department store, where four women with seemingly nothing in common meet by chance and make fun of their woeful lives as they experience “the change”.
The Little Mix Experience
Theatre Royal Brighton, tomorrow, 1pm
Four talented female singers pay tribute to one of the UK’s biggest girl bands, including replica costumes, dazzling dance moves and powerful vocals. Expect hits such as DNA, Wings, Salute, Shout Out To My Ex and many more.
Jonathan Wilson
Concorde 2, Brighton, today, 7.30pm
You might not know the music Jonathan Wilson makes, but you may well be aware of the music of those he produces. He was responsible for much of Father
John Misty’s Grammy-nominated Pure Comedy last year, with the high-profile American singer lauding Wilson’s “mastery”.
