A LOLLIPOP man was hit by a car as he helped children cross the road.

The collision happened outside Billingshurst Primary School in Station Road after the youngsters had finished for the day on March 21.

Yobs in a Citroen Xsara Picasso tormented the volunteer before running him over in the car.

Firstly, the driver pulled up next to him and hit his sign.

The motorist then drove back past and the passengers heckled him.

Then the driver of the car, which has the registration number RF02FZV, parked on the crossing to stop the children being able to cross the road.

The lollipop man was hit by the car from behind.

He did not sustain any injuries.

Police have now issued CCTV images of three people wanted in connection with the collision.

Officers have issued an appeal for people who may know them or witnesses to the incident, which happened at 3.30pm, to come forward.

Investigator Tamara Bennett, of Sussex Police, said: “Thankfully the lollipop man was not injured and no children were involved at all.

“We have spoken to a lot of witnesses who saw what happened but we are now appealing to anyone who knows the people in the car.”

Anyone who has information about the incident should call Sussex Police on 101 quoting serial 849 of 21/03.
