A TEN-YEAR-OLD ballerina has been chosen to perform on stage in the West End.

Martha Gibson, from Haywards Heath, is the only dancer from West Sussex to be chosen to appear with the London Children’s Ballet.

Its production of The Canterville Ghost at The Peacock Theatre in London kicks off tomorrow.

Martha was selected as one of 56 children to perform out of the 670 who auditioned.

The whole ballet will be performed by dancers aged between nine and 16, with music played by a live orchestra.

Martha goes to Lindfield Primary Academy in Haywards Heath.

She also trains weekly in ballet, modern dance, tap, contemporary and jazz at Gielgud Academy of Performing Arts in Haywards Heath.

She said: “I have been rehearsing for the show every Sunday since January.

“During the Easter holidays and this week we have been practising every day.

“I am really excited to be a part of it, it is a fun experience.

“I love when I get to act on stage as well as dance.

“I would really like to work with the London Children’s Ballet more in the future.”

The Canterville Ghost will show run until April 22.
