AN ADULT website has revealed the most popular dogging spots in East Sussex which you might want to avoid at night.

The website, Swinging Heaven, has listed the favourite places couples enjoy outdoor sex.

Car parks, beaches, nature trails, parks and woodlands are amongst the places couples carry out their exhibitionist activities while others watch.

The activity had a sudden spike in popularity in 2003 as couples were able to arrange meetings conveniently on the internet.

Devil’s Dyke is a highly popular destination for families to go and enjoy picnicking and hiking.

However, the National Trust spot has a shadier side to it as it is one of the top dogging areas in Brighton and Hove.

Dukes Mound, Foredown Tower and the Nudist Beach, next to the Marina, are the other preferred spots in the city.

In Eastbourne, the favoured areas are Butts Brow, Prince William Parade, Sevenoaks Road and Wilmington Chalkpit car park.

Beaney’s Lane, Fairlight Glen Naturist Beach and Hastings Country Park car park are apparently favoured in Hastings.

In Lewes, couples like to pick Chaucer industrial estate, Newhaven Fort car park, High and Over car park and Wetland Sanctuary car parks.

Lastly, Battle Great Woods, Camber Sands beach car park, Country Park and Fisherman’s car park are the top spots in Rother.

According to the list, couples seemingly enjoy taking their activity to Wealden as the website listed more than four selections.

The areas are Lower Road car park near Cuckoo Trail, Maresfield Cricket Club car park, Ashdown Forest, Library Way car park, plus Main Road near the A27.

The activity is not banned under a specific law in the UK, but people who get caught can be charged with other offences. Those caught can be charged under the Sexual Offences Act 2003 with public lewdness and indecent exposure.

Sussex Police have previously stepped up their patrols in secluded areas that attract couples engaging in sexual activity in a public place.

The car park in woods off the B2110 on the border between Balcombe and Crawley is notorious as being a site for strangers and couples to meet for sexual encounters. The number of complaints from residents who live nearby prompted police to take action.

Police believed that the couples were from outside of town.
