More than 40 businesses attended the launch of the monthly Argus Business Breakfast Club yesterday.

It took place from 7.30am at Small Batch in Goldstone Villas, Hove.

Argus editor Arron Hendy and advertisement director Richard Harmer welcomed a wide variety of businesses.

The feedback afterwards was overwhelmingly positive.

Maunie Catcheside from Brighton and Hove PR said: “I want to say thank you for

the invite to this morning’s inaugural The Argus Breakfast Club.

“There are a lot of networking events in Brighton but few here in Hove, so this is a good opportunity to meet fellow local business people.

“It’s great that The Argus is bringing the Hove business community together in an informal and social environment.”

Terrina Barnes, corporate fundraising manager, Rockinghorse children’s charity, said: “I just wanted to drop you a line to thank you for organising the breakfast meeting this morning.

“I thought it was a really good event.”

The Argus is working with Small Batch and The Flour Pot Bakery on this exciting new project.

Editor Arron said: “It was a really good morning, there was such a positive buzz.

“Since I took over as editor I pledged to make the brand more community focused and this new club is just another example of that.

“We want to provide a great opportunity for companies to come together, network, enjoy breakfast and have a great start to the day.

“It’s completely free and in the coming months our focus will be to maximise the networking opportunities while at the same time attracting engaging speakers.”

Business reporter Peter Lindsey told the audience that the intention is to make Tuesday sbusiness day in the city.

He said: “Each Tuesday we produce 12 pages of business with a mixture of news and advertising.

“In the coming months we will be devoting more time

and energy to our business pages.

“We want to talk to individuals and groups focused on business.

“Brighton and Hove has some great businesses.

“Our economy is doing well and just look how the digital businesses have grown in recent years.

“Brighton and Hove is most certainly the place to be doing business.”
