MEGAN Lock writes (The Argus, June 27) about dog owners not cleaning up after their dog’s poo in the countryside.

She writes that “depositing plastic bags is not a solution either”.

All this is true of Snakey Lane, which runs from Preston Park Station and beyond Station Road to the Lane. This Lane does not belong to the council, but to three landowners: Southern Railway, the Curwen Estate and an other estate (I do not know its name).

Many dog owners live in this built up area but fail to take their dog poo home with them.

When I and some of our neighbours were younger we managed to keep the Lane clean, but now we are either dead or decrepit it is difficult to keep carry on with this work.

Recently I sent two of my grandchildren down Snakey Lane with two large carrier bags to clear up some of the rubbish of all sorts. They filled the bags. I know that the council is not responsible for the Lane, but I will ask them whether they would be prepared to provide a dog poo bin outside the barrier in Station Road.
