A BOY aged 10 from Burgess Hill has completed a seven mile sponsored walk to raise funds for the mental health services that support his brother.

Young Christopher completed the 7.1 mile walk through The Green Circle in Burgess Hill to raise money for Heads On, Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust’s mental health charity.

Christopher’s brother has Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and has been supported by the specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services in West Sussex, including at Chalkhill in Haywards Heath.

To show his thanks to the service, Christopher decided to do a sponsored walk and fundraise for them - for which he has currently raised an impressive £400.

Simon, Christopher’s dad, spoke about his son’s achievement:

“I am so proud of Christopher for taking on this challenge to raise money and awareness for mental health services, to help other young people with ADHD.

“As a parent of a child with a mental health difficulty, you sometimes wonder whether this might have an impact on your other children – because your child sometimes needs extra attention, you don’t want your other children to feel ignored.

“But this has shown us that Christopher also wants to help his brother, and others like him, too – and this makes us so proud of him.

“He is an amazing boy and inspires us every day!”

Sussex Partnership provides mental health services for all ages in Sussex, and children and young people in Hampshire.

Felicity Louden, Head of Charity for Heads On, said: “We are so grateful to Christopher and his family for their amazing efforts to raise money for CAMHS.

“At Heads On, we fundraise to help make things better for the people who happen to use our services.”
