IT was a warm and beautiful weekend for Peacehaven Open Gardens event of 2018.

It was held in aid of St. Wilfrid’s Hospice and sponsored by Newhaven’s family-owned garden centre Paradise Park.

The day raised a tremendous £1,000 for the charity.

“There was a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere”, said Mark Curtis who’s plants manager at the Avis Road store.

“Not only refreshing teas and coffees but lashings of delicious cake as well. We are seeing this event grow each year, and that’s wonderful.”

At the presentation ceremony, Sarah Marsh expressed her thanks from the hospice and also to everyone for their work in getting their gardens ready, and especially to Alison Standing, for all her hard work.

“We look forward to next year’s event”, she said, “and, if you missed it this time, don’t forget to pop round next year. “

Visitors enjoyed The Seaford Sunshine Strummers who played on the Sunday afternoon.

Spokesperson Alison Standing said ‘all the gardeners involved had a lovely weekend welcoming many visitors to their gardens.'
