A FIRE broke out in a Brighton flat today.
Firefighters from Hove and Brighton were called to an upstairs flat in a house Warmdene Road at 12.14pm.
Watch commander Roger Lovewell said two people had escaped from the building by the time firefighters arrived.
They were treated for smoke inhalation at the scene.
Three fire engines attended, alongside paramedics and police.
The fire is now out and the ambulance has left.
Mr Lovewell said the building was heavily smoke-logged, and it took 15 minutes to put the fire out.
Plain-clothes detectives were then seen in the street speaking to neighbours.
The windows of the upstairs flat appear charred.
