IT’S FAIR to say that Brighton, and most of the world, went absolutely bonkers when it was announced that Britney Spears would be headlining the 2018 Pride Festival.

Such was the demand to see the pop legend that Pride’s ticketing site crashed multiple times over the course of tickets being on sale.

There’s no denying that Britney Spears is one of the greatest pop stars of all time.

Her music is known the world over, and she has never been far from the media spotlight.

Following her debut tour, supporting NSYNC, Britney released her debut album “…Baby One More Time” in January of 1999.

If Britney’s New Year’s resolution was to become an overnight megastar then it would have been complete within the opening month of the year.

“…Baby One More Time” debuted at number one of the Billboard 200, went double platinum, sold over 10 million copies in a year and went to number one in 15 countries.

It made her the highest-ever selling teenage artist and places her third in the list of best selling debut albums.

The title track sold over half a million copies on its opening day and has gone down in pop culture history for the image of Britney dancing in the school hallways.

A little over a year later and guess what…she did it again.

‘Oops…I Did It Again’ gave Britney back to back albums that sold more than 20 million copies.

Since then, Britney has remained consistently popular.

She is, in America, the only female artist to have her first five studio albums all debut in the top two in the charts.

She has of course been in the spotlight for her troubles as well, but that hasn’t stopped her from releasing hit after hit, with her hordes of fans screaming for more.

Brighton Pride marks the first show on the European leg of the Piece of Me show; the tour that has become a hit sensation in Las Vegas, with Britney performing multiple residencies there.

The show largely mirrors what her Vegas residency has done, but expect a few more bells and whistles to be added for good measure.

It’s gone down a storm in Vegas and Brighton is definitely in for the same showcase treatment.

Nobody knows quite what to expect from a Britney Spears show but one thing is for sure, it’s probably going to be one of the best shows to hit Brighton this year.

She’s sure to crush Pride 2018.
