I agree that we should be looking at renewable forms of energy but I also think that wind turbines are ugly, especially when placed on our beautiful Downs.
Why not look at placing them out at sea? They could serve two purposes. First, obviously generating energy but also we could create a marine conservation area around them, free from trawlers and other commercial fishing.
This has been done in the Bristol Channel, so why not here? A thousand turbines could be placed off our coast and we would hardly know they were there. There would probably be more cost involved but long term we would all benefit.
