I currently live in Regency Square and admire the remains of the West Pier daily. I am aware of plans for the i360 which is all well and good but I believe the remains of the pier are a beautiful asset to Brighton's seafront, especially with the birds it attracts.
It could compliment the new vertical pier, connecting the old and new stages of the city and if it could be lit up at night time it would create a wonderful sight on the seafront which is busy year round, day and night.
There is a reason the West Pier is the most photographed point in Brighton. We should aim to keep it that way. Could anyone please inform me if there is still a case to preserve it rather than restore it? We know that that would require too much money. Or is it a lost cause?
