In response to the story on the 20mph speed limit (The Argus, November 5), I think reducing the speed limit is a good idea in the city centre but there wouldn't be half as many accidents if people crossed the road properly.
The number of people walking out into the road without even looking is insane. I see it every day, and can see why so many accidents happen.
It's nothing to do with the buses. It's the pedestrians. There are crossings throughout Brighton but people are in too much of a hurry to use them.
People cross where they want, then get knocked down, then the buses are blamed.
The worst one I have seen is Oxford Street by Boots in London Road. The lights may take time to change, but surely waiting for them is better then getting killed. The lights are there for a reason, so people should use them. What are we teaching the younger generation if we walk out wherever we want?
It'll only get worse if people don't use the Green Cross Code.
