Surely a trombone can never before have brought so much joy to so many people.

The instrument rarely finds its way out of brass bands and orchestras but when Andy Cato picked it up for the signature notes of Superstylin', the final track of a hit-packed encore, the Brighton Centre crowd went through the roof.

Groove Armada have been together for ten years now but as they sailed their ships into Brighton they sounded fresh and vibrant as ever.

They were met by an adoring crowd. Beatboxer Beardyman had already got them going with a fantastic medley of tunes. Cato's trombone, which provided a distinctive sound throughout an energetically upbeat set, was among a number of quirks.

Singer Veba's powerful, clear vocals led the group through a collection of songs from their back catalogue and this year's new albums Soundboy and GA10, released this week.

A spectacular video and light display provided an impressive backdrop as Cato and Tom Findlay, the other Groove Armada mainstay, kept the crowd dancing. They saved the big hits for the end. I See You Baby, made infamous by a car advert, closed the set, sadly without singer Stush, who was ill. As well as Superstylin', the encore also featured chillout album favourite At The River.

After ten years they, and their fans, are still definitely grooving.
