Twelve elderly passengers have been taken to hospital following a bus crash today.
The Metrobus crashed into a stationary Rover car and a tree in Furnace Drive, Crawley, at about 1pm.
Witnesses described seeing victims sitting on the side of the road with blood pouring from cuts to their heads and faces.
Passers-by went to the aid of the injured.
It is understood the bus driver suffered minor injuries.
Eight of the injured were taken to Crawley Hospital while four others were taken to East Surrey Hospital. None of the injuries were believed to be life-threatening.
Furnace Drive has been closed while officers investigate the scene. Local diversions are in place.
Ambulance and fire crews also attended the scene.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision. They should contact the Roads Policing Unit at Haywards Heath on 0845 60 70 999.
