I was thinking of having a flu jab, and taking my mother along for one as well. Then I read in the papers that some scientists say the injection is a waste of time. And a friend told me that GPs only do it in order to line their pockets.
Who's right?
Some researchers have indeed suggested that influenza jabs don't really do much good. However, that's very much a minority view among doctors.
It is true that GPs make quite a bit of money by promoting flu injections. Nevertheless, I reckon the jabs are worth having - so much so that I've just had one myself!
