A 15-year-old boy was badly burnt when a bonfire exploded in his face.
The accident happened at around 10.45am on Saturday in Tennyson Road, Bognor and was one of three involving bonfires in the Arun district over the weekend.
The boy was burnt on his face, hands and stomach.
An ambulance took him to St Richard's Hospital in Chichester for treatment.
At around 6pm on Saturday evening, a 39-year-old man was taken to Worthing Hospital with burns to his hands and neck.
He had poured petrol on a bonfire and set his clothing alight in Poling Street, Poling, near Arundel.
A third person, a Littlehampton man in his 40s, was injured on Friday evening while moving a scaffolding board away from an out-of-control bonfire in Harwood Road.
He hurt his hand and was treated by paramedics at the scene.
West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service reminded people not to set bonfires near fences, garden sheds or properties, never to let your children near the fire and cordon off the area and not to leave a bonfire unattended.
The service also warned people not to use flammable liquids, especially petrol, to light a fire, to keep a bucket of water or garden hose handy in case it is needed and to consider wind direction.
